About Me

"The difference between a successful person and others is not a lack of strength, not a lack of knowledge, but rather in a lack of will."
- Vince Lombardi
<--- That's me, Ashley Elizabeth Hearn. I am an undergraduate student at the University of Wisconsin-Madison double majoring in Communication Arts and Visual Arts.

I started this blog to serve as a database for my journalistic endeavors, photos, videos, artwork, and as a diary of sorts where I can publish whatever is on my mind. Basically, I want this to be the place where "it" all comes together.

So why Suspension of Disbelief? The term refers to the willingness of a reader or viewer to set aside his or her critical faculties in order to enjoy a work of fiction. I think, however, that one should try and suspend their disbelief in all aspects of life. By withholding judgment and overlooking the minor inconsistencies, I try to enjoy everything thrown at me - the good and the bad - because both will make me a stronger, better person. I'm a someone who find tremendous pleasure in the little things in life - the smell of fall leaves, sitting at Memorial Union Terrace, movie nights, sunsets, flowers, coffee shops... the like.

More about me...

I am an aspiring sports broadcaster, an intern for the Badger Sports Report, and the co-host of 91.7 WSUM's the Sunday Huddle. A sports enthusiast is probably the best way to describe me.

As a Wisconsin student, I'm naturally a Badgers fan. I also love the (defending Super Bowl Champion) Green Bay Packers (no, I don't get tired of saying that), and the Atlanta Braves. I'm an Atlanta native whose family comes from Wisconsin. My favorite sports memories are...

1. Watching the Packers win Super Bowl XLV
2. The 2010 Wisconsin vs. Ohio State football game (I was there)
3. The 2009 Packers season opener vs the Chicago Bears (2nd game at Lambeau)
4. Attending the 2010 Rose Bowl (even though we lost)
5. My first game at Lamebeau Field (Packers vs. Texans, 2008)

I'm also huge fan of movies. My top five are probably The Empire Strikes Back, Godfather I, Lawrence of Arabia, Gone With the Wind, and Beauty and the Beast.

My favorite books are As I Lay Dying by William Faulkner, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime by Mark Haddon, and the Harry Potter Books by JK Rowling.

I'm also a huge (HUGE) Gilmore Girls fanatic, so much so I would probably say that Lorelei and Rory (and by extension the shows creator/executive producer Amy Sherman-Palladino) have been my greatest life influences thus far.

Let's see... journalist, sports, Packers, Star Wars, Gilmore Girls... that's pretty much me in a nut shell. I will leave with another quote - this one from a book I read, for the first time, my junior year in high school. At the time, it seemed like romantic gibberish, but I've sence found myself cracking open my copy and purusing it for adivse...
